Additionally, the drilled areas at the edge, centralize the mass further. This allows a very quick revving engine and more torque to the wheels especially in lower gears. The advantage of single piece steel vs. a two piece aluminum and steel is that over time the aluminum and steel with different rates of thermal expansion can cause the bolts holding the steel friction surface to work loose.
